Sketches and Ideation
I ideated multiple renditions of the meerkat to emphasize its alertness and strong eyesight. The figure is depicted standing upright on its hind legs to reflect its vigilant, watchful behavior while hunting and keeping watch for it's clan. I chose a neutral facial expression to avoid over-anthropomorphizing the animal, allowing its posture and stance to communicate its awareness and instinctual focus.
Graphic Translation - Geometry
To capture the meerkat’s form while maintaining geometric stability, I followed the natural arch between the neck and tail. I use the arch as a repeated contour throughout the figure; the repetition of this oval creates visual cohesion and balance, transforming an organic figure into a controlled, geometric form.
